Rs2.8m given to quake victims

GILGIT, April 12: Federal Health Minister Naseer Khan on Thursday visited the Northern Areas and distributed cheques of Rs2.8 million among the quake victims of Astore and Raikot in Diamer district.

He also handed over to Northern Areas Deputy Chief Executive Fida Muhammad Nashad relief goods worth Rs12 million that were flown to Gilgit by a C-130 plane on Thursday.

At least 39 persons were killed and 42 injured due to a series of quakes in Diamer district in November 2002.
