BUNER, Oct 10: Shahzada Khan, Nazim of the Koga Chamla union council, Buner district, has said that the presence of more than 30,000 Afghan refugees in his constituency since 1982 has created numerous problems for the local population.

Talking to journalists at Daggar here on Wednesday, Shahzada said that a refugee camp was established on 3,000 kanal cultivable land with a compensation of Rs75 per kanal per year to the locals.

The locals demand that the camp should be wound up or the compensation increased to Rs2,500 per kanal per year from 1987, he said, adding that the genuine grievances of the people should be addressed without any delay. Federal Minister Omar Asghar Khan has been informed of the demand, he said.
