MANSEHRA, Dec 4: The Jamiat-i-Ulma-i-Islam (JUI) has formed a committee to negotiate with the new Afghan government for the recovery of prisoners of war, JUI district Amir Mufti Kafaitullah said in a press conference here on Monday.

A delegation would left soon for Afghanistan in this regard, he added.

He said the committee under the leadership of JUI tribal Amir Maulana Abdul Rehman, would apprise both the Afghan government and leaders of the Northern Alliance about the possible attacks on the anti-taliban or non-Pushto speaker DPs who were living in Pakistan.

He said:” We hope the present leaders of the Afghanistan would release the foreign prisoners of the war, including Pakistanis and Arabs”.

Answering a question, he said the JUI had decided to take part in the forthcoming elections of the national and provincial assemblies.

‘‘We are in contact with the leaders of various political parties to include them in our existed alliance of the religious parties,’’ the JUI leader said.

He said the JUI had launched its new membership campaign.
