RAWALPINDI, Dec 4: Male and female councillors exchanged hot words and hurled threats against each other during the session of the district council here on Tuesday.

Naib Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas, who was presiding over the session, failed to bring the house in order and helplessly looked on the whole incident.

The controversy started when one of the male members of the Council said the attitude of their female colleagues was unbecoming during the proceedings. This statement infuriated the female members who also criticized the attitude of the male councillors and levelled allegations against them. On this, several male and female members started speaking simultaneously creating a rumpus in the house.

In the meantime, a female member took the floor and demanded unconditional apology for the indecent behaviour of the male colleagues. One of the sitting male members passed a comment against her, which made the female members more furious and they even threatened to physically assault the member, who had passed the remarks.

However, as the things were about to get out of control, some of the saner members, both male and female, apologized with one another and diffused the tension.
