NEW DELHI, April 5: Coach John Wright will not accompany the Indian cricket team to Bangladesh for next week’s triangular one-day series because of his father’s death, the president of the Indian cricket board said Saturday.
Board chief Jagmohan Dalmiya told the Press Trust of India news agency in Kolkata that Wright had informed him about the death of his father and his inability to accompany the team.
Dalmiya said Wright’s replacement would be named in a couple of days.
India are scheduled to leave for Dhaka on April 9 for a tri-series also featuring South Africa and Bangladesh.
Wright’s three-year contract with the Indian board ended after the World Cup but was extended for two more months in view of the Dhaka tournament.—AFP
