SUKKUR, April 4: Hundreds of people including many councillors and Nazims of Thul, Misripur and Mubarikpur areas blocked the Indus Highway as a protest against the murder of UC Naib Nazim, Mubarikpur, Abdul Bari, by robbers.

The councillors, Dr Fida, Abdul Fattah, Altaf Ahmed, Mumtaz Bhutto, Jam Khoso and others, speaking to the protest rally called upon the Sindh chief minister and governor to take special measures to curb crime in the outskirts of Jacobabad.

Reportedly, the Naib Nazim was injured by robbers while offering resistance to dacoits, near Mirpur Buriro, who took his motorcycle along with Rs20,000. He later died in the Chandka Medical Center, Larkana, where he had been admitted in critical condition.

TRANSPORT FARES: Secretary, District Regional Transport Authority, Sukkur, has fixed transport fares at 42 paisa per kilometre for buses and minibuses.

Accordingly, fare to be charged from new bus terminal to Pir-Jo-Goth is Rs16.50, City Zero Point Bypass to Pir-Jo-Goth, Rs14, Central Jail Bypass to Pir-Jo-Goth, Rs13 and Baberloi Bypass to Pir-Jo-Goth, Rs12.

Fare from City Zero Point to Baberloi will be Rs2, village Haji Mohammad Chattel Rs3.50, Faiz Wah Rs5, Shah Ladhani Rs4.50, Garhi Mori Rs7, Piryaloi Rs8, Khosa Pul Rs9, Hajna Shah Rs10, Kot Pul Rs11 and Wada Machyoon Rs12, respectively.

POWER SHUTDOWN: Hyderabad Electric Supply Company Executive Engineer, Operation Division, Sukkur, has announced shut-down of power transformer, T1-T2 on 66KV grid station, Sukkur City and 132 KV grid station, Arain, on April 7 and 8, from 8am to 12 noon for general maintenance and tightening of jumpers.

The shutdown will affect power supply to areas of Bunder Road, New Barrage, Masoom Shah, Bachal, Pak Railway, Shahi Bazaar, Clock Tower and Shikarpur Road on April 7 and Chak, Sabzi Mandi, Airport and Golimar areas on April 8.
