HYDERABAD, April 2: A Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) unit in charge, Hussain Abbas Rizvi, was gunned down on Wednesday evening, allegedly by his brothers in the Barelvi Colony, Latifabad, unit-11, here on Wednesday.
He was in charge of unit-49 of the MQM, Latifabad.
Reportedly, the deceased had developed differences with his family over a girl, whom he wanted to marry. The police claimed that he was residing with the girl in the Barelvi Colony in a rented house. His brothers had tried to persuade him to abandon the girl.
The father of the girl, Munawar Shah, was also living with the couple. The deceased himself was a resident of the Sadaat Colony, unit no-9, Latifabad, and was an employee of Hesco.
The police said that his brothers, Mohammad Rizvi and Safdar Rizvi, who were armed with pistols went to the house where the couple was residing. The killers first fired on the girl, who escaped unhurt. After that they fired on Abbas, which hit him in the temple and he died on the spot. The accused fled. The body was sent to civil hospital for autopsy.
The police have detained the girl and her father for interrogation.
The police told Dawn that the girl claimed that the assailants had come to kill her. The SHO concerned said that no one had turned-up to claim the body. The accused were absconding. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Meanwhile, no office-bearer of the MQM, Hyderabad chapter was available for comments.
KILLED: Mohammad Kamal, son of Wali Mohammad Thari, was crushed under the wheels of a speedy train at the Hyderabad railway station.
He was resident of Chachro, Tharparkar district.
