CASTRIES (St Lucia), March 30: All competing teams, the West Indies apart, have been confirmed for next week’s World Double-Wicket Cricket Championship at Beausejour Stadium.
The eight-team tournament, sanctioned by ICC, will be staged on April 4-6, with Michael Slater and Greg Blewett representing World Cup champions Australia at the US$175,000 tournament.
The proposed West Indies team of Carl Hooper and Chris Gayle cannot be confirmed until interstate shield semifinals are completed, since the final dates clash with the championship.
Pakistan’s Wasim Akram will be joined by Shahid Afridi, while Aravinda de Silva joined by another team mate for World Cup semifinalists Sri Lanka.—PPI
