Accident leaves two dead

JHANG, March 29: Two people were killed and 16 others, including Jhang (headquarters) SP and his driver, injured in an accident near Khewa, 30 kilometres from here, on Jhang-Chiniot road at about 8pm on Friday.

SP Masood Iqbal was on his way to Jhang from Lahore in his official jeep. When he reached Khewa, in front of Fesco grid station, a Hiace wagon collided with the jeep head-on. Haq Nawaz of Bhowana and Ms Razia of Sargodha died in the DHQ Hospital.

SP Iqbal and his driver Jahangir Ahmad sustained serious injuries.

A hospital source said the SP was later refereed to a Lahore hospital after feeling pain in the chest.

Six of the 14 injured people were taken to the Chiniot THQ Hospital.
