KHAIRPUR, March 29: Residents of the Kandhiro village on Saturday blocked the National Highway for at least two hours near Siyal Pul to press the authorities for the immediate arrest of killers of Badshah Dino, who was killed on Friday by five armed men in the village Kandhiro.

The 17-year-old boy was with his father, Mir Mohammad Kandhiro, when the five men had asked him to pay Rs100,000 in extortion money. When Mr Kandhiro refused to pay them, they had opened fire on them and as a result the boy was killed and his father was injured.

An FIR was lodged with the Tando Masti police on Saturday against Din Mohammad Mari, Piaro Mari and three others.

Hundreds of Kandhiro tribesmen took the corpse of the boy in a tractor trolley to Pir Chanio and observed a sit-in on the National Highway.

Later, protesters dispersed after they were assured by the police officials regarding the killers’ arrest.

HIJACKED: Four armed men, riding a car, on Saturday hijacked a Sangi-bound oil tanker (E-1980) near the Shah Hussain Chowk on the National Highway.

The tanker had originated from Karachi.

The accused are reported to have tied and abandoned the tanker’s driver, Qaisar Islam, its cleaner, and another person at a nearby location.

The tanker’s driver had lodged an FIR with the B-section police.

KILLED: A person was killed and another was injured on Saturday after being fired upon by some unknown accused in the Ali Bux Sarohi village.

Munawar Hussain Sarohi, who lodged an FIR with the Gambat police, stated that he, along with his driver, Saleem Ahmed Sarohi, and cleaner, Habibullah Sarohi, were travelling in a Suzuki (9736) from Khairpur to his village when some unknown persons had signalled them to stop. When they did not stop, he said, the accused had opened fire because of which his driver had died while the vehicle’s cleaner, Habibullah, was injured.
