ISLAMABAD, March 28: Pakistan People’s Party acting secretary-general Raza Rabbani on Friday said his party was intentionally kept away from a parliamentary committee formed to settle the controversial LFO.

Talking to Dawn, the secretary-general said the committee, which was formed on Saturday, had participation of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA). No PPP leader was nominated a member of the committee, he added. “Government wants to keep all democratic and liberal political parties of the country away from any discussion on the LFO.”

However, the PPP leader hoped that the MMA would not accept anything which was unacceptable to the PPP.

He said it had been decided by the opposition parties that these would not let the parliament run till the LFO issue was settled.

“Due to Iraq crisis, the opposition has agreed to discuss the situation in the Gulf so that a categorical and unanimous resolution can be passed in this regard,” Mr Rabbani said.

The copies of Constitution were delivered to the NA secretariat by Printing Corporation of Pakistan on October 22, the day on which the government had first planned to convene the inaugural session, which was later postponed, sources said.
