PESHAWAR, March 28: The NWFP government in collaboration with donor agencies will set up citizens information centres in all districts of the province, officials said.

The centres will help in ensuring transparency in decision making, documentation of the social and economic sectors, dissemination of  information and citizens’ accessibility to information about development.

The United Nations Developmental Programme and Swiss Agency for Developmental Cooperation are providing technical and financial assistance for the 10-year project.

An official of the essential institutional reforms operationalization programme (EIROP), which is designing the project, said that in the first phase the centres in five districts — Peshawar, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir and Lower Dir — would begin functioning in August.
