ISLAMABAD, March 27: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to the Attorney-General on the issue whether a person working in the army establishment could be tried under the NAB Ordinance.

The SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmad, issued notice to the AG and Prosecutor-General of Accountability after hearing Senior Advocate Abdul Hafeez Pirzada who had argued that his client Zaqim Khan, an engineer working in an army establishment, was arrested under the NAB Ordinance on charges of corruption.

He argued that his client should have been tried under the Army Act, and not under the NAB ordinance. The bench consisted of Chief Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmad, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Karamat Nazir Bhandari.

The counsel said that despite being a civil engineer Zqaim Khan was part of armed forces therefore, he could not be tried by NAB.
