LARKANA, March 27: The Sindh government has permitted the taluka municipal administration, Larkana, to appoint sanitary workers on contract basis, sources in the district Nazim office told this correspondent on Wednesday.

They said the secretary local government, in response to a letter sent by the district Nazim, Khurshid Junejo, had permitted the taluka municipal administration to recruit 129 sanitary staff keeping in view its sources of income.

The district Nazim, sources said, had begun correspondence with the Sindh government after receiving a letter from the taluka Nazim, Nazeer Ahmed Shaikh.

The sanctioned strength of sanitary workers for TMA was 430 but retirements had rendered the staff strength to only 301 workers, they said.

The ban on recruitment had been hindering the taluka municipal administration regarding appointment of sanitary staff, they added.
