KARACHI, March 27: Movement of vehicular traffic between Sindh and Balochistan came to a halt on Thursday evening as transporters blocked the RCD Highway after a dispute with the officials of the National Highway Authority.

A spokesman for the Supreme Council of All-Pakistan Transport told Dawn that around 4 pm, a driver of the Karachi-bound passenger coach was beaten up by officials of the NHA collecting toll at the RCD Highway.

The NHA officials dragged the driver out of the vehicle and started beating him up when he gave them a Rs 500 note as he did not have the change. Another driver who came to his rescue was also beaten up, the spokesman claimed, adding, six passengers who intervened also suffered injuries.
