TOBA TEK SINGH, March 26: The Kamalia tehsil council has sent some 27 water supply schemes for approval to the provincial government. The funds for these schemes will be provided by the Asian Development Bank.

This was stated by Kamalia tehsil Nazim Akhtar Abbas while speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Pirmahal sewerage project on Wednesday.

District Nazim Mohammed Ashfaq said a population of 64,000 in Pirmahal localities would benefit after the completion of this sewerage scheme. He said Rs100 million were being spent on various development schemes of Kamalia tehsil. He announced that the Government Girls Middle School, Pirmahal, would be upgraded.

The Nazim said the Housing and Physical Planning Department would be directed to establish a new housing scheme in Pirmahal for the low-income people.

SENTENCED: The additional district and sessions judge awarded life term with a fine of Rs34,000 each to two convicts in a kidnap-cum-rape case here on Wednesday.

Mubashir Ali and Shaib had kidnapped and raped a girl in Chak 420-JB, Gojra.

The same court also awarded life term with a fine of Rs100,000 to Nabi Noor of Chak 295-GB in a murder case.

The court acquitted his two sons, Jabbar and Zulfikar, as the prosecution had failed to prove charges against them.

They had killed their relative, Abdul Malik, over a money dispute.
