HYDERABAD, March 26: Workers of the three taluka councils of Hyderabad took out a procession here on Wednesday to protest against the war on Iraq.

Raising slogans against the US and the UK, the workers urged the United Nations to play its role and stop the war.

Talking to the protesters, Muttahida Labour Federation leaders Qamoos Gul Khattak, Imam Bux Bhatti and others said the US had been isolated in the wake of opposition to the war throughout the world.

They criticized the US for its dual standard regarding treatment of prisoners of war.

They said the US had lost its battle on the political front.

The leaders deplored innocent people were being killed in the war.

SANGHAR: On the call of the Citizens Action Committee, Federation of Trade and Commerce, Youth League and the National Workers Party, a large number of people took out a procession against the US attack on Iraq.

The procession started from the Dilbar Chowk and terminated at the local press club.

A heavy contingent of the police was deployed to avert any untoward incident.

Speaking on the occasion, Sufi Abdul Haq, Akhtar Qureshi and others said Iraq was attacked to take control of its oil resources.

They called upon people to boycott US goods.

JACOBABAD: Responding to the call of the Shehri Ittihad Committee, people took out a procession here on Wednesday against the attack on Iraq by coalition forces.

The protesters blocked the Indus Highway for two hours.

Led by Mohammad Akram Abro, Ahmad Ali Brohi, Dr A. G. Ansari and Imdad Ali Talani, the procession started from the Abro House and after marching through different streets and roads stopped at the Sarafa Bazaar.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against war. The protesters also set on fir effigies of George Bush and Tony Blair.
