KARACHI, March 26: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has stressed the need for development and improvement of parks in the province.

The governor called for increased plantation, protection of and effective monitoring of trees to save the existing parks and the plots reserved for the purpose from encroachments with the community participation.

He was speaking at a meeting held in connection with the development of parks at the Governor’s House on Wednesday.

It was decided that on the pattern of Changa Manga, a recreational place should be developed in the interior of Sindh.

The meeting also decided to chalk out a comprehensive plan for parks and plantation along the river and canals.

Besides Karachi, the governor called for improvement of parks in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and other small and big towns. He called upon the local governments, multinational companies and industrial and business concerns to play their role in this regard.

Reviewing the condition of parks in Karachi, it was decided to do the desired work with proper monitoring.

The governor called for implementation of projects of Ibni Qasim Park, Boating Basin and other park schemes, besides developing the reserved plots under the adopt-a-park scheme. —APP
