SYDNEY, March 24: Ricky Ponting’s victorious Australian team will be feted at a public reception in Perth on Tuesday, the Australian Cricket Board said.

Skipper Ponting’s unbeaten 140 ensured the defending champions became the first team to win three World Cups when they beat India in a one-sided final in Johannesburg on Sunday.

The Australians are due to arrive in Perth early on Tuesday and will have a public reception in the city centre.

The players will then return to their home cities.—AFP
