BAHAWALPUR, March 24: The district and tehsil administrations have failed to crack down on encroachers thriving in various parts of Bahawalpur.
Encroachments and illegal extensions of shops in almost all the markets have left little space for pedestrians. A number of vendors, who have set up their carts in front of the shops, allegedly greased the shop owners’ palms to sun their business.
Violation of traffic rules by the motorists is also creating problems for the pedestrians. Despite their demands, the authorities concerned have yet to remove these encroachments.
EXHIBITION: An exhibition of new books was organized at the Bahawalpur central library in connection with the Pakistan Day.
Police DIG Pervez Akbar Lodhi inaugurated the exhibition on Monday.
Chief librarian Rana Javed Iqbal informed the guests that 1,500 new books worth Rs600,000 had been displayed at the exhibition while as many books would soon be added for the visitors.
DEMAND: The Joint Action Committee for teachers and doctors on Monday urged the government to withdraw its decision to denationalize the Government FC college, Lahore.
