HYDERABAD, March 24: The Sindh governor has constituted an urban development board to oversee ongoing development works in various areas and remove hindrances in uplift schemes.
The Sindh minister for local bodies will be the chairman of the board.
This was said by Sindh Local Bodies Minister Mohammad Hussain while being briefed about the Gulshan-i-Shahbaz Scheme by project director Munir Soomro at the office of the Sehwan Development Authority, Jamshoro, on Saturday.
The minister said the scheme should also include a proposal for providing jobs to local people.
He stressed the need for completing uplift works within the fixed period.
He said development works in those areas which were handed over to the taluka municipal council by the Sehwan Development Authority would be completed by the taluka council concerned.
Mr Hussain further said problems hampering the completion of development schemes should be referred to him so that the same could be removed.
The project director told the minister the work on roads, water and power supply schemes in Gulshan-i-Shahbaz had not been completed.
Later, Mr Hussain presided over a meeting relating to kutchi abadies and received briefing about development works.
During his visit to the taluka municipal office, the minister took serious notice of the use of substandard material in the repair work and ordered the work should be stopped forthwith. He also ordered an inquiry into the matter.
