Pest attacks wheat crop

KHAIRPUR, March 21: Wheat crop has been infected with pest in Mirwah, Gambat, Kingri and Sobhodero talukas of Khairpur district.

The area growers said that due to the attack, grain had lost weight.

They expressed fear that if the situation was not immediately tackled, they might sustain losses. The growers demanded of the officials of the agriculture department to take immediate measures.

DIE: Two men were killed in Faiz Muhammad Narejo village, Kingri taluka, on Thursday night when the wall of a under- construction well caved in on them.

Five people, Suleman Shaikh, Ali Gohar Khurkhani, Irshad Narejo, Nizam Narejo and Mor Narejo, were digging a well in the village of Kutcha area when a huge earthen block fell over them.

The villagers rescued Irshad, Nizam and Mor, all by caste Narejo, while Suleman Shaikh and Gohar Khurkhani, said to be professional well-diggers, died.
