KARACHI, March 20: Former national champion Muhammad Tanveer produced another brilliant performance Thursday to record his fifth win in a row in Mistral class trials at Pakistan Navy Aquatics Club.

Experienced Tanveer, who won both the races, the previous day, was again at his best, easily winning three back to back races to maintain his ascendancy.

Consecutive victories assured Tanveer a place in the Pakistan squad for the Asian Sailing Championship being held in Mumbai in May.

Tanveer is leading with zero point followed by Aamir Nawaz with 12 points while Khan Dad is laying third with 20.1 point.

Xerxes Avari/Kamil Khan maintained their winning spree in 470 class trials, winning third and fourth race. But they suffered a set-back when their boat capsized in fifth race.

However, Xerxes/Kamil were enjoying unassailable lead with zero point.

In the meantime Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF) has made slight changes in the schedule of optimist trials and for Pakistan youth team trials.

Trials to select Pakistan Youth Sailor for International Sailing Federation Youth Festival will be held at Aquatics Club from 22 to 24 instead of March 24-26.

Optimist trials for Asian championship will be held at National Sailing Center from March 27-29 instead of March 24, Secretary PSAF, Capt (Retd) A.R. Arshad announced. —APP
