Razzaq shines as ZTBL surprise HBL

LAHORE,  March  19: An unbeaten knock of 52 by Test  all-rounder Abdul Razzaq steered Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited  (ZTBL) to a four-wicket win against the star-studded Habib Bank side in the NBP One-day Patron’s Cup Pool ‘A’ match at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing  a paltry winning target of 195, ZTBL reeled off  the required runs in  40.4 overs. Razzaq hit six boundaries and two fours in his 38-balls innings after taking two for 34.

Batting first, Habib Bank struggled from the start as batsman could play a big innings. Seasoned players like Saleem Elahi (24), Taufiq Umar (16), Shahid Afridi (20), Imran Farhat (5) and Hasan Raza (7) all failed.

Pacer Rao Iftikhar finished with three for 41.

In  another match of this pool, an unbeaten century  by  Adil Nisar (110) helped Wapda beat Sargodha by nine wickets at  Sports Stadium in Sargodha.

Adil  laced  his  knock with 12 fours and  one  six. All-rounder Rana  Naveed-ul-Hasan also excelled with an unbeaten 51 off 49 balls. He hit six sixes and four  fours.

An undefeated  century  by Asim Munir, who made 128, failed to save Gujranwala from a four-wicket defeat against Multan in a high-scoring match at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala.

Asim hit 13 fours and three sixes in his 99-ball knock as  Gujranwala scored 282 for six in 50 overs.

Multan, however, achieved their target by scoring  283 for six in 48.2 overs.
