FAISALABAD, March 19: The House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) has moved the banking court against 32 more residents of Allama Iqbal Colony.
The Faisalabad Development Authority had developed the colony about two decades ago and allotted the one-room houses to the inhabitants to katchi abadi of Factory Area. The FDA had reportedly obtained loan from the HBFC by pledging the documents.
The allottees refused to pay instalments on the plea that FDA had got loan on its own and pledged the document wrongfully. The allottees claimed that the mark-up rate was too high that was why they refused to pay the instalments.
The HBFC had already filed over 100 cases but failed to make any solid ground for the recovery of dues.
The allottees urged the prime and chief ministers to direct the HBFC not to file recovery suits against them and adopt reasonable methods for the recovery of dues.
NAB’s plan: The National Accountability Bureau has decided to launch a countrywide campaign to create awareness in the public about the evils of corruption.
Sources in the NAB told this correspondent that the federal cabinet had already approved the plan of National Anti-Corruption Strategy, and asked authorities concerned to take appropriate steps for launching publicity campaign through print and electronic media and other resources to rebuild the public’s confidence in the investigation process.
The NAB higher-ups have invited proposals from the public relations and advertising agencies to plan, execute and supervise the campaign for a year,” they added.
According to the sources, the government was facing public resentment about relaxation given to some ‘big defaulters’ under give and take policy of the political parties.
They also said the public would lend a hand to the bureau in fighting corruption and it would be taken into confidence under the new plan. The NAB would keep upgrading its website, which would show it’s latest decisions, the sources said.
