SUKKUR, March 19: A new train will be introduced between Larkana and Karachi, Federal Minister for Railways Ghous Bux Mahar said on Tuesday.

Another route between Quetta and Peshawar was being evaluated, he said.

He said that efforts were being made to eliminate corruption from the railways department, adding that officials had been told to improve their efficiency or face consequences.

KILLED: One of the drivers of vehicles carrying sugarcane to the Ranipur Sugar Mills was killed late Monday night after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Colony Road.

After the incident, drivers staged a demonstration to protest against the incident and blamed the vehicle of the mill’s general manager for the accident and closed the gates of sugar mill.

Protesters dispersed only after they were assured by the general manager, along with the SHO of the Kotdiji police station, that his vehicle was not responsible for the accident.

FOUR BOOKED: Four accused were booked by the Nabi Shah police station in Garhi Yasin in the murder of two brothers, Qurban Ali Gopang and Abdul Latif Gopang, who were killed on Monday at a local rice mill.

The policemen, accompanied by a large number of the Gopang tribesmen, pursued the culprits and tracked them to the Mohammad Nawaz Jakhrani village.

The accused, who have been booked by the police, were identified as Rafiq Ahmed Jakhrani, Maula Bakhsh Jakhrani, Nooro Bhanger and Tawangar Khan. No arrest was reported till the filing of this report.

KARO-KARI: A young man was killed by unidentified persons in the Hasi Aalimani village, near Moro, on Tuesday night.

The man, Punhal, was reportedly killed over Karo-kari.

Meanwhile, Ayub Jatoi was injured when three armed men, riding on a motorcycle, opened fire on him near the Sukkur Central Jail on Wednesday.

The injured was taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.

KIDNAPPED: Seventeen-year-old Asghar was kidnapped by five armed bandits at gunpoint from the poultry form of Syed Azam Rashdi in Pir-Jo-Goth on Tuesday night.

ARRESTED: The guards of the Oil Gas Development Corporation caught hold of two persons and recovered 10 drums of oil they had stolen from well-10, Qadirpur gas field.

The accused, Abdul Jabbar and Niaz Ali Waso, were handed over to the Sarhad police station.
