RIYADH, March 19: Saudi Arabia’s interior minister has said that some Saudis may have travelled to Iraq recently to fight against an imminent United States-led invasion, local newspapers reported on Wednesday.

They said Interior Minister Prince Nayef told journalists late on Tuesday he could not rule out reports that some Saudi volunteers had crossed into Iraq via Jordan to defend it against a military attack.

“We have no information about this. At the same time, we cannot deny it totally. Saudis travel abroad as they wish, (though) I see no point in their participation,” daily Arab News quoted Prince Nayef as saying.—Reuters
