RAWALPINDI, March 18: MMA MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi said repair work on damaged roads and streets would be initiated soon.

The MNA was talking to newsmen during a meeting at his office in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Mr Abbasi said his share of funds amounting to Rs5 million would be spent on development projects in his constituency.

He said local administration initiated uplift work during election campaigns of candidates of ruling party, but did not complete it after the elections. People are facing problems due to the unfinished projects, he added.

The MNA said tenders had been issued and work on damaged roads would be completed within two months.

He said Rs200,000 had been allocated for each union council.

Mr Abbasi expressed concern over various problems, including water shortage, unemployment, lack of educational institutions, roads, streets.

He asked the government to increase allocations to MNAs for development works.

About law and order situation, the MNA said special squads had been formed to check crimes like gambling and use of drugs.
