GUJRANWALA, Dec 1: Dacoits shot dead two men on resistance in separate incidents in the district on Saturday.

According to reports reaching here, Ansar Mahmood was sleeping in his house in Bhaki Kamoki village when some dacoits attempted to loot the households. They opened fire when he challenged them. He died on the spot.

Police removed the body to local civil hospital for autopsy after registering a case.

Watchman Muhammad Javed of Mehmand Agency was performing his duty in a ceramic factory near Chand da Qila by-pass chowk when some dacoits sneaked into the premises. They opened fire when he attempted to overpower them. He die on the spot.

Sabzi Mandi police registered the case.

REMAND EXTENDED: The physical remand of three Customs officers, arrested on charge of theft of a costly vehicle a few days ago, were extended for four days on Saturday.

According to details, customs officials impounded a jeep, worth Rs5 million, for not paying duty some few months ago.

The jeep, owned by Cantonment Board’s former vice-chairman Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad, was parked in the compound of Customs directorate.

Later, deputy superintendents Shaukat Ali and Naeemullah, and inspector Ghulam Muhammad Bhatti took away the jeep along with official computer and crucial record and got registered a theft case against Sheikh Ijaz.

During investigations, the CIA police found that the Customs officials were involved in the theft.

ROAD ACCIDENT: Two passers-by were killed in a road accident on Pasrur Road on Saturday.

According to reports reaching here, Alamgir Khan of Talwandi Musa Khan and Muhammad Bashir of Raj Kot were going to the village when a speeding bus hit them. They died on the spot.

Police registered the case.
