Crackdown on petrol retailers

Published March 18, 2003

LAHORE, March 17: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has ordered a crackdown on petrol retailers and allowing establishment of new petrol pumps only on duly commercialized plots owned by the applicants.

The Nazim issued these orders while presiding over the district’s monthly meeting here on Monday. The meeting was convened to consider applications for granting no objection certificates to new petrol pumps in the city district.

He said action would be taken against the officials, who failed to control retail petrol sale, and pumps selling lesser quantity by tampering with the meters.

He said public convenience should be kept in view while granting NoCs to new petrol pumps. No pump should be sanctioned at a place where it could create traffic problems, he said, adding no CNG station should be sanctioned on a plot measuring less than one kanal or less than 50-foot front.
