Raja helps GER win Spring Cup

LAHORE, March 16: Back to back goals in the dying minutes by Raja Sattar helped Green Earth Recycling (GER) to win the Spring Cup Polo Tournament defeating Guard Rice 7-5 in an exciting final on Sunday.

The winners led 3-0 in the first chukker. Shah Shamyl Alam who scored four goals, struck twice followed by first of three goals from Raja Sattar.

But Guard Rice hit back in the second chukker through Shah Qubilai Alam’s hat trick.

The scores stood at 4-4 after three chukkers. Shamyl scored his third goal. Qubilai however, restored parity.

In the fourth chukker, Shamyl again took GER ahead 5-4, scoring his fourth goal. But Usman Hayee equalised 5-5 for Guard Rice.

But then Raja struck two quick goals in the dying minutes of the game, to seal the fate of the match in favour of Green Earth Recycling.

Earlier, Dark Horse beat Diamond Paints 7-6 to earn the third spot.
