MULTAN, March 16: The Anjuman Mazareen Punjab has welcomed the announcement of the Punjab government that state land will be distributed among landless tenants.

In a statement, AMP secretary-general Dr Christopher John said: “It has been our 100-year-old demand to have ownership against our tenancy lands.”

He demanded that the government should also withdraw false cases against AMP activists besides ordering the release of the tenants imprisoned under these cases.

DIRECTIVE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Limited chairman has directed the authorities at the Multan telecom region to speed up installation of telecom network in rural areas.

Speaking at a meeting of PTCL officers here on Saturday, Akhtar Bajwa directed the MTR director planning to carry out a survey of rural areas especially in Dera division to connect them with the telecom network.

He urged the local PTCLofficials to ensure achievement of new telephone connection targets in their respective areas.

The PTCL chairman also visited various departments of MTR, including the customer service centre, computer section and Paknet office.
