KHAAR, Dec 1: Thousands of newly-arrived Afghan refugees have been relocated from Jallozai camp in Peshawar to the new site at Kotkai in Bajaur Agency, bordering Afghanistan.

The UNHCR has begun relocating refugees. Six thousand refugees have so far been moved from Peshawar to the new camp, officials told Dawn on Saturday.

The sprawling camp, spreading over an 400 acres can accommodate 20,000 people. The refugees are being moved in batches of three and five hundreds. International relief agencies have completed their preparations to provide them necessary assistance.

World Assembly of Muslim Youth, a Saudi non-government organization, brought in a convoy of ten trucks laden with edibles, blankets and medicines and distributed them among the refugees.  “This is the first instalment. Inshaullah, we will bring in further supplies next week,” director-general of the NGO, Mohammad Mustafa said.

Political Agent of Bajaur Agency, Mohammad Saleem Khan visited the camp and oversaw the activities.
