TAXILA, March 13: A high-level defence delegation of South Africa led by Lt Gen T.T. Matanzima paid a brief visit to the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), Wah Cantt, on Thursday.

Chairman POF Lt Gen Abdul Qayyum briefed the delegation on different arms and ammunition manufactured at the factories for the armed forces. Later, the delegation also visited various arms and ammunition manufacturing units and plants.

The delegation also took keen interest in the arms manufacturing processes on CNC machines installed at the weapons factory of the factories.

TWO KILLED: Two people were shot dead in two different incidents here.

In the first incident, a man identified as Qammar shot dead Hanif over money dispute at Sang Jani. A case was registered against the accused.

In the second incident, some people opened fire at a vehicle bearing registration number 5612. As a result, a passenger identified as Qaiser was seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital where he died. A case was registered against the unknown accused.

DRUG SMUGGLERS HELD: Tarnol police foiled a bid to smuggle 18 kilogramme charas from the NWFP to Punjab and arrested a woman.

Police sources said during routine checking on the GT road 18 kilogramme charas was recovered from a woman identified as Shaukat Bibi travelling in a Rawalpindi-bound van coming from Peshawar.

In another incident, Taxila police foiled two separate bids to smuggle 3.5 kilogramme charas and arrested two smugglers.

In the first incident, two kilogramme charas was recovered from Sardar Ali. While in the second incident 1.50 kilogramme charas was recovered from Nadeem Masih, who was trying to smuggle the contraband from NWFP to Punjab. Separate cases were registered against the accused.
