PESHAWAR, Dec 1: Pakhtoons’inadequate representation at Bonn moot will have drastic effects on the peace process of Afghanistan, former chief minister of NWFP, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, said in a statement issued here from London.

“In the prevailing volatile situation, one will definitely be optimistic about any peace initiative and the Bonn process is an encouraging sign in this regard,” he opined. He said Pakhtoons, who were in majority, should not be discriminated in the meeting nor in future transitional regime.

Sherpao justified the walkout of Nangarhar province governor from the meeting over under-representation of Pakhtoons and suggested that the issue should be addressed properly in the future political dispensation to remove the bottlenecks in the peace process. However, he pinned hopes on the prospects of the moot to find out a solution for Afghanistan.

Mr Sherpao said a regime could not successfully complete its agenda without the representation of majority .

All ethnic segments of Afghanistan should be actively involved in the reconstruction process.
