PESHAWAR, March 12: District Zakat committees have been directed to expedite distribution of Zakat funds among the deserving people to ensure 100 per cent utilization of the amount allocated for 2002-3.

A sum of Rs488m had been allocated for distribution through the district-based Zakat committees in the NWFP.  

However, only 33 per cent of the total allocated amount has so far been distributed.

Presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday, the provincial minister for zakat, ushr, social welfare and women development, Hafiz Hashmat Khan, directed the authorities concerned to expedite the distribution of funds, an official handout said.
