LAHORE, March 11: The Centre for Excellence in Molecular Biology, Punjab University, has formally started liaison with private sector by delivering 4,000 kg of virus-free potato seeds to an industrial group for their multiplication.
The centre has produced these potato seeds at its farms though tissue culture technology.
PU VC Arshad Mahmood and Monoo Seed (Pvt) Ltd GM Ch Muhammad Amin exchanged documents of the agreement on Tuesday before the delivery of the seeds.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said the university had taken lead in agricultural research.
He stressed the need for producing agricultural managers badly needed for enhancing agricultural produce. He also inspected floriculture biotechnology lab at the centre, where he was briefed about research on seeds production.—APP
