LAHORE, March 11: The Lahore High Court Bar Association announced on Tuesday that it would constitute a five-member committee to probe torture of Punjab Assembly deputy opposition leader Rana Sanaullah by unidentified people.
LHCBA President Hafiz Abdul Rahman Ansari moved a resolution before the house against the torture of Mr Sanaullah, who is also a member of the Bar association. It was unanimously resolved that a committee comprising Bar’s five former presidents would be sent to Faisalabad to inquire into the matter.
The association flayed the incident, and demanded an arrest of the culprits within next two days. Speaking on the occasion, the Bar president accused the intelligence agencies of playing a shameful role. He called for a ban on the ISI’s political wing.
He said the PML-N leader’s torture was tantamount to humiliation of the lawyers. However, the lawyers would not budge an inch from their stance on the LFO, he added.
Later, the LHCBA members took out a rally to raise voice against the incident. They chanted slogans against the government, and vowed to extend maximum support to the Faisalabad Bar in its call for the culprits’ arrest.
