KARACHI, March 11: The police claimed to have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a number of sectarian killings, including of nine people at an Imambargah in Al-Falah.

DIG investigation police Fayyaz Leghari confirmed the arrest and said the suspect, identified as Abdul Wahab, and his accomplice were allegedly involved in the killing of nine people on Feb 22.

He said the suspect was arrested by the operation wing of the police and later he was handed over to the investigation wing for further questioning.

Police sources said Wahab, affiliated with the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, had confessed killing a number of people of the Shia community. He told the police that he and Javed alias Chand killed two Iranians at a bakery in Arambagh police limits.

The sources claimed that Wahab was also involved in the killing of Ehteshamuddin Haider, brother of former minister of interior Moinuddin Haider, besides other killings.
