KARACHI, March 11: Sindh Chief Secretary K. B. Rind has called for details regarding a five-year delayed development project of a park in the H area of Khokhrapar and directed the DCO Karachi to take effective measures in this regard.

He also directed the transport secretary to take notice of complaints about the change in route of mini-bus D-1 and take an action to ensure that the mini-bus ply on the determined route.

He issued these directives on a request by a delegation of Malir residents which met him on Tuesday.

The delegation informed him that a project for developing a park in H area near Majid-i-Aqsa was approved five years back, but no action had been taken by the concerned authorities.

The delegates told the chief secretary that some influential figures had encroached upon the land allotted for the park and the concerned department had done nothing to remove these encroachments.

They further informed that the owners and drivers of mini-bus D-1 had themselves changed the route which was causing difficulties for passengers.

They told him that a number of requests had been made to the transport department and the RTA but the two were unwilling to take any action.

They said due to this change in route, passengers had to take three or four vehicles which required more time besides more money, thus accidents were also taking place.

The chief secretary issued directives for construction and development of the park after removing encroachments and for restoring the old route of the minibus.—PPI
