FAISALABAD, March 10: Police have failed to find a clue to the ‘terrorist’ who had opened fire on a mosque injuring two persons, in Gulistan Colony here on Sunday morning.

However, the Sargodha Road police have registered a case against unknown terrorist for injuring two persons — Haji Aftab and Mohammed Binyamin — under sections 139, 295, 324 PPC and 7 of the Anti-Terrorist Act.

A police team, headed by the SP investigation, has also been constituted to probe into the matter.

According to eyewitnesses who recorded their preliminary statements before the investigation team, some 100 people were offering Fajr prayers when a masked young man forced his entry into the mosque and opened fire.

But he lost control overhis rifle due to which itsmagazine slipped and fell down. The assailant apprehending his arrest managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ahle Hadith central leader Maulana Yousaf Anwar, in a statement, has condemned the attack on the mosque and demanded the police highups to arrest the accused.

He demanded that the police should be deputed at all mosques and Imambargahs to avert any eventuality during Muharram.

ACCIDENT: One person was killed and three others injured in a road accident in Nigehbanpura here on Monday.

Sajid was going along with his family when the driver lost control over the wagon and it rammed into a roadside tree. Sajid died on the spot, while Akbar and Azami sustained injuries.

The injured were removed to hospital.
