HYDERABAD, March 10: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday issued notices to two SHOs, DPO, operations, and the DPO, investigation, of the Badin district for March 28.

The notices were issued on a constitutional petition, filed by former MNA Abdul Sattar Sarewal.

Ayaz Latif Palijo appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

The petitioner said the SHO, Gulab Leghari police station, Abdul Jabbar Abro, and several other policemen on Feb 18 attacked the Sattar Sarewal village and surrounded houses.

He said the policemen entered the houses of his Kamdars and peasants and after humiliating the inmates, illegally took away Mohammad Ibrahim, Allah Warayo, Mohammad Azam, Azim, Ali Bux, Akhtar, Shahid and Mohammad Omar, all Chandio by caste, to the Khoski police station.

He said when the policemen were asked had they any arrest warrant, the villagers were told the arrested men were relatives of a criminal, Mohammad Hussain.

The petitioner said he was also being pressurized to support the PML-Q.

He said he was told if he did not change his loyalty or pay Rs50,000, the arrested men would be tortured and booked in false cases.

He told the court when he approached the DPO, the peasants were released but no legal action was taken against the policemen concerned.

The petitioner said the police were still harassing the villagers.

He prayed the court to direct the respondents to stop harassment of the petitioner and his peasants and also direct the DPOs to take action against the policemen concerned.
