KARACHI, March 10: Many city areas faced water shortage for the third consecutive day on Monday.

The hard hit areas included Clifton’s block 2 and 4; North Karachi’s sector 5-D, 11-C-1 and 11-C-2, Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s blocks 4-A, 10, 13-C, Old City Area, comprising Mithadar, Kharadar, Pakistan Chowk and Haqani Chowk and different cooperative housing societies.

Moreover, sprawling townships of Baldia, Orangi, Surjani and parts of Shershah and the SITE industrial Area have already been facing water shortage where people are groaning for non- availability of water.

In district west water shortage has become a routine where supply has not normalized even after resumption of supply from the Hub source, residents claimed.

Though the city government’s water and sanitation department claims that they have been implementing water-holiday system in the localities hooked to the Indus source only once in a week and on turn by turn basis, residents of most of the areas said their localities usually go without water for two consecutive days whenever water supply, under the weekly water-holiday system, is suspended.

CLOSURE: The localities which went without water on Monday as part of the city government’s plan of suspending the supply of localities getting supply from the Indus source for diverting the same to localities hooked to the Hub dam included all blocks of North Nazimabad, Federal B’ Area, Shadman Town, Buffer Zone and Nazimabad.

Water supply would also remain suspended on Tuesday in Clifton, Gizri, Delhi Colony, Punjab Colony, Shireen Jinnah Colony, Bhutta Village, JPMC, NICVD, NICH, Naval Dockyard, NORE-1 and GE Army installation.
