RAWALPINDI, March 9: Two persons were murdered in two different incidents here on Sunday, police said.

In the first incident, some persons shot dead Mumtaz, a batman, in front of a mosque at Tahli Moori on Sunday.

Mohammad Nazir, a resident of Tahli Mori serving with Pakistan Army as sobaidar, lodged an FIR with the Civil Lines police station, saying that Mumtaz, who had been working as his servant, left the house to fetch water, but did not return.

He said some boys informed him that his servant was lying dead in front of a mosque. Mr Nazir told the police that he had no enmity with anyone. However, the police are investigating into the incident.

In the second incident, Arshad Mehmood was shot dead by his rivals in Al-Noor Colony, Sadiqabad.

Mohammad Asghar, lodged an FIR with the Sadiqabad police, saying that Usman Ghani and Aurangzeb came to his house, where Arshad Mehmood had already been sitting. On seeing Arshad, Aurangzeb, who was carrying a pistol, shot at him. Arshad received bullets in chest. He tried to escape, but fell on the floor in the courtyard of the house and expired.

The alleged killer managed to escape. Police said the motive behind the murder was an old enmity between the deceased and the alleged killer.

FATHER, SON DROWNED: A man and his son died after falling into an oil tanker at Chowki Hameedaan on Saturday, police said.
