SUKKUR, March 9: The police in a raid on the residential quarter of a policeman, Mandhal Shar, recovered a huge quantity of liquor and the related manufacturing material on Sunday.

The police allegedly released the constable and arrested his brother, Abid Ali Shar in the raid, which was conducted on the complaints of the relatives of the three persons who had died after taking poisonous liquor, allegedly supplied by the constable.

KILLED: A villager, Mohammed Khan Jalbani, was gunned down by dacoits on Sunday in the Nawz Jalbani village, near Garhi Khairo.

The victim was killed in his house by the bandits while he tried to resist them during the dacoity.

ARRESTED: A man, identified as Ghafoor Jaffry, was arrested by the Risaldar police from Kandhkot. The police claimed that a Kalashnikov was recovered from his possession and he was wanted in several other crimes in Jacobabad district.

SUICIDE: The Shikarpur police during the investigation of a case in which one Nazar Mohammad, son of Mohammed Hassan Sundrani, had shot himself in the Acchi village, was told by his brother, Peroo, that due to some economic worries his brother shot himself with a shotgun.

Posting, transfer: Zaferullah Khan has taken over as the DIG (Operation), Sukkur Region vice Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, who has been transferred to Hyderabad, this was reported the other day.
