Facilities for prisoners pledged

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 30: Tehsil Nazim, Fatehullah Khan Miankhel, visited central jail of Dera Ismail Khan on Friday morning. He was accompanied by jail officials.

During his visit, the Tehsil Nazim inspected langarkhana, jail hospital, barracks, zanankhana, phansi ghat and jail factories. He met various prisoners and listened to their problems.

Tehsil Nazim was briefed by superintendent jail that having no proper drainage system, the administration and prisoners, were facing a number of problems. In addition, the power consumption was more than the capacity of the transformer installed outside the jail which was a risk for the security of the jail.

The Tehsil Nazim promised that he would try to provide an additional transformer for the jail within one week. Rs 113,000 have been provided for the purpose.

He further pledged that maximum funds would be provided from the municipal funds for a proper drainage system. Fatehullah Khan advised the jail authorities to provide all the available facilities and training to make the prisoners peaceful and constructive citizens.
