A number of patients and their attendants told this correspondent on Saturday that the X-rays produced by the machines were not clear. Most patients have to get their X-rays from private radiologists.

They said that the hospital administration was charging Rs55 while the health department had fixed Rs15 for a X-ray.

DHQ Hospital’s radiologists Dr Ishtiaq Safdar Tarar and Dr Anjum Javed Sudho said that the three X-ray machines had been declared unrepairable by the technical staff.

The hospital administration had requested the health department high-ups to get the fourth X-ray machine repaired.

They said that the hospital had to purchase X-ray films from the market and that was why patients were being charged Rs55.
