ISLAMABAD, March 7: Army officials and bureaucrats, who were occupying parliament lodges before general elections, were found defaulters of Rs3.6 million, a data provided to the National Assembly by the interior ministry showed.

The data was provided on a question raised by Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali.

The data confirmed that the dues of army officials and bureaucrats were 100 per cent higher than the dues which have to be paid by some politicians. The politicians are defaulters of Rs1.6 million.

According to the data, some 71 army officials and bureaucrats are the defaulters of accommodation charges and utility dues while some of them had also taken away some precious items while leaving the lodges.

Army officials and bureaucrats have evacuated the lodges for the newly-elected members of parliament.
