GUJRANWALA, March 7: Kotwali police on Friday claim to have recovered three children from Daska who were kidnapped for ransom by their uncle from Karachi some two weeks ago.

Police also arrested accused Muhammad Tariq, a resident of Pathan Colony, Karachi.

Police said Tariq had kidnapped Maria (8), Shaheryar (6) and Waqar (4) from their house on Feb 24 and brought them to Daska. Later, he demanded Rs0.5 million ransom for their release.

Acting on a tip-off that the accused was getting prepared his credit card from a bank, a police party headed by Rail Bazaar SI Tahir Goraya raided there and arrested him. Later, the children were recovered from his house in Daska. Police handed over the children to their parents who came here from Karachi.

It was learnt that the Sindh Governor’s secretary sought a report from the Gujranwala police about the arrest of the accused.

A case has been registered the accused.
