MULTAN, March 7: Two dacoits were killed on Friday night in a brief encounter with police at Mahmoodkot, Muzaffargarh.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the hideout of outlaws and besieged the area. Taking in the situation, the three dacoits opened fire on police which was returned. After a brief shootout, police killed two of them while their third accomplice made himself scare in the darkness. The dead dacoits were identified as Shahid and Akram. Police said they were involved in several dacoity incidents.
